On December 9, interactive workshops led by researchers from CEAB-CSIC will take place in the cultural hall of the municipality of Vilaller (Alta Ribagorça).
The goal of these activities is to enhance understanding of the ecology of high-mountain ecosystems.
The event will start at 6:00 PM with a brief presentation by Dr. Stephanie Merbt, an ecologist from CEAB-CSIC. Following this, the first activity, led by Eric Baqué Díaz, also an ecologist from CEAB, will explain why high-mountain lakes are sentinels of global change. Later, CEAB environmental scientist Delfina Cornejo will conduct an interactive workshop on plastic pollution, shedding light on how microplastics serve as clear tracers of human activities, as well as the sources, abundances, and impacts of this type of pollution.
The activity is free and open to the public.
It is organized in collaboration with the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park to commemorate International Mountain Day, celebrated on December 11.
