The Centre for Advanced Studies of Blanes (CEAB-CSIC) has released a new institutional video. The short film, just over two minutes long, explains what is done at the Centre, how it is done, with which team, and for what purposes.

The piece offers a glimpse into the laboratories at the main headquarters in the town of Blanes, as well as into research facilities located in other parts of the territory such as, for example, the Urban River Lab. It also showcases the fieldwork of researchers in various aquatic ecosystems around the world, with a special focus on those in the Mediterranean region.

The video, available in Catalan, Spanish, and English, begins with a brief introduction to the CEAB, one of the 121 institutes of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

It then highlights the Centre’s multidisciplinary nature—both in terms of its teams, made up of professionals from diverse fields, and the techniques used. It explains that this cross-disciplinary approach enables scientific progress in marine and freshwater biodiversity and ecology, as well as in ecological theory.

The video notes that the Centre produces both basic science—knowledge that expands our existing understanding—and applied science, which offers concrete solutions to real-world problems. It also emphasizes the importance of transferring both types of knowledge within the scientific community and beyond—to public administrations, the private sector, and society at large.

The final part is dedicated to the mission of the CEAB-CSIC team: that their work may help improve our relationship with nature, so we can care for it and preserve it in good condition for future generations.

The video is available on the CEAB-CSIC’s official YouTube channel:
