My interest, as an entomologist specialized in invasive mosquitoes, is the process of dispersal, surveillance and control of these species from an environmental perspective, social and health. Due to the risk that some of these species represent due to health, it is one of the most transversal fields of study and intervention that exist within the framework of interactions between society and insects.

I developed these interests from a very practical point of view during 40 years in the Control of Control service Mosquitos del Baix Llobregat, and currently in a more theoretical position at the CEAB. Here, my activity is carried out in the citizen science project Mosquito Alert, where I provide support in entomology, I am responsible for part of the research, and for the citizen data validation management.

PROJECTS

Development and application of artificial intelligence tools to optimize the speed of response to alerts sent by citizens through the Mosquito Alert platform.
The great heterogeneity in individual behavior as well as between different groups translates into a variability in human-mosquito interaction, and therefore in a variability in the risk of disease transmission. This relationship not only depends on the density of mosquitoes and people in an area but on many other factors.
The INOVEC project is dedicated to fostering collaborative research and driving innovation to improve surveillance and control of mosquito vectors that carry emerging arboviruses to Europe and beyond.
