Science and society

Outreach activities

Outreach activities allow us to share knowledge and present science as a common good at the service of society. We explain science in an open, inclusive and accessible way to connect with a diverse public that seeks answers to today’s challenges.
Science communication helps us spark curiosity and foster critical thinking, essential for making informed decisions.

Educational Projects

At CEAB-CSIC we promote initiatives aimed at schools and high schools, because education is key to fostering critical citizenship. We offer visits, workshops, talks, teaching materials, exhibitions and projects tailored to different educational levels, with the goal of sparking students’ curiosity and connecting the world of research with classroom reality, making science an accessible, engaging and motivating experience.

Coinciding with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11 February), we organize talks and workshops led by CEAB-CSIC female researchers to highlight the role of women in research and to promote gender equality in the scientific and technological fields.

Our commitment to education is also reflected in our participation in innovative programs such as Tandem Schools and Magnet Alliances, which establish long-term partnerships with educational centers to integrate science into their pedagogical projects. Along these lines, we collaborate with the Young People and Science program, which allows secondary school students to join a CEAB-CSIC research group and carry out a scientific project firsthand.

Finally, we offer a variety of educational activities linked to research projects such as Limnology (Aumenta Activities), Mosquito Alert, Marine Forest or Life Resque Alpyr. These initiatives bring science closer to classrooms and involve students in understanding and researching different aquatic ecosystems.

Citizenship

At CEAB-CSIC we organize activities to bring research closer to citizens and to make science a participatory and accessible experience. We take part in events such as Science Week or Pint of Science, and throughout the year we offer visits, talks, debates, documentaries and seminars open to everyone. In addition, we collaborate with cultural, social and scientific organizations at both local and national levels to expand the reach of science communication and strengthen the link between science and society.

Other activities and resources

Both through the outreach and communication units of CEAB-CSIC, as well as through specific research projects, we develop messages, materials and resources designed to bring scientific research closer to the public, with a particular focus on aquatic ecosystems.
