Prismàtic Annual Conference: How to implement the new European Nature Restoration Law?

It will feature researchers from CEAB-CSIC, experts in the conservation and restoration of marine environments and freshwater aquatic ecosystems. The conference will be held in person.

The Prismàtic Annual Conference now has a date. It will take place on December 10, in person, at the Administrative District of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Carrer del Foc, 57, Barcelona).

The event will address how to develop the recently approved European Nature Restoration Law in Catalonia. This law sets goals such as restoring 20% of degraded ecosystems by 2030, reaching 60% by 2040, and achieving full recovery by 2050. This mandate encompasses a wide range of ecosystems, from forests and wetlands to agricultural lands and marine areas.

To explore this topic, the conference will feature experts in conservation and restoration of different ecosystems. Among them will be researchers from CEAB-CSIC, including Emma Cebrian, head of the marine ecology department and researcher in the benthic ecosystem functioning group, and Marc Ventura, researcher in the integrative ecology of inland waters group and coordinator of the Life Resque Alpyr project. They will discuss, respectively, the conservation and restoration of marine ecosystems and the restoration of aquatic ecosystems in protected areas of the Pyrenees.

The Prismàtic Annual Conference aims to share scientific evidence, management experiences, and showcase governance models that inspire enriching and constructive debate on the path to achieving these nature preservation goals.
