Antibiotic-Resistant Microorganisms in the Environment

On April 1st at 6:00 PM, the talk “The Spread of Antibiotic Resistance in the Environment” will take place.

Led by researchers from the Pharm-Era research project, the talk will focus on how antibiotic resistance spreads in the environment, particularly in aquatic ecosystems such as rivers. The project’s PhD students will explain how antibiotic resistance genes reach the environment through wastewater, agriculture, and other anthropogenic sources. They will also discuss the mechanisms by which these genes can be transferred between microorganisms, contributing to their dissemination.

The talk will present methods for analyzing and detecting these genes in environmental samples, as well as the potential ecological impacts and risks to human health. Ultimately, it will address the role of the environment in the expansion of antibiotic resistance and the importance of controlling it to prevent future problems.

The event is open to everyone interested. No prior registration is required.
