My doctoral thesis in marine ecology aims to assess the status and trajectory of various areas of the Mediterranean through a regional re-evaluation following the framework of Sala et al. (2012)<\/span><\/span>, integrating the valuable historical datasets of Dr Enric Ballesteros<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

This research addresses the challenge of the climate emergency by analysing ecosystem resilience to global change, with the goal of translating knowledge into practical management tools for rocky reefs.<\/p>\n

Methodologically, the work combines the rigour of underwater visual census techniques with advanced data analysis in R<\/span><\/span>. In addition, the effect of herbivory by salps on Cystoseira s.l. populations will be investigated under increasing marine heatwaves, focusing on the ecological processes that shape biodiversity in shallow habitats.<\/p>\n
