My research focuses on the biology and ecology of benthic invertebrates, particularly soft-bottom macrobenthos, as well as on the taxonomy, biology, ecology, and behaviour of polychaete annelids, with a especial emphasis on symbiotic species, and I have described or co- described over 90 new species, including polychaetes, crustaceans, bivalves and protozoa. My publications include over 190 articles and book chapters, with 130 featured in SCI journals, and I have participated in 70 conferences with over 100 presentations, and I have participated in over 65 research projects and contracts. I have supervised five PhD theses, 14 bachelor&#8217;s, master\u2019s, and DEAs theses, as well as numerous student internships, and served on two Doctoral Committees (2013-2016: UdG, Ci\u00e8ncia i Tecnologia de l\u2019Aigua, and 2012-present: UB\/UPC\/CSIC, Marine Sciences Doctorate).<\/p>\n<p>In the CEAB, I served as Vice-Director for two years, Director for twelve years, and Head of the Marine Ecology Department for four years. Currently, I am Scientific Director of the Biological Collections and Coordinator of the Research Group on Benthic Ecology.<\/p>\n<p>On the European front, I represent the CSIC in the Marine Biodiversity Working Group of the Spanish Inter-ministerial Commission for Marine Strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I am member of the International Polychaete Association, and the Systematics Association of the UK, as well as a Professional Member of the Marine Biology Association of the UK, and I am deeply involved in public outreach, regularly participating in activities for the general public and students.<\/p>\n<p>-Research projects I am currently involved in:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Consolidated Research Group in Benthic Ecology (Ref. 2021SGR00405)<br \/>\n&#8211; Consolidation and leadership actions of the Spanish node in DiSSCo (NN-DiSSCo-ES)<br \/>\n&#8211; Marine Biodiversity Monitoring for Europe (MBON Europe)<br \/>\n&#8211; Holistic marine bioremediation strategies capitalized on artificial reefs (REefVOLUTION)<br \/>\n&#8211; Ocean Night<br \/>\n&#8211; BIOCAVE (Ref.
