I am a PhD student interested in the conservation and restoration of marine forests, particularly those dominated by species of the genus Cystoseira. These brown macroalgaes are the primary structural and dominant species in littoral rocky marine systems, providing a huge array of fishes and invertebrates with shelter and nourishment, building complex food webs and hosting relevant biodiversity. Considering the current decrease of their populations, I seek to enhance the existing conservation methods while developing innovative strategies based on new information about population and ecosystem\u2019s response variables (e.g. early survivorship, resistance to stress and functionality).
