This July 25 was the last day of work at the CEAB-CSIC for the second-year high school student, coming from an institute in Barcelona, \u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bwho this year completed the stay of the \u201cYouth and Science\u201d program<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For two weeks, Berta Huguet has been able to work side by side with CEAB-CSIC research staff. He has done it both in the Urban River Lab<\/strong><\/a>, in Montorn\u00e8s del Vall\u00e8s, and in the laboratories at the Center’s headquarters, in Blanes, specifically in the molecular ecology<\/a> and microplastics laboratories<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among the specific tasks that have been carried out are the collection and preparation of samples, their analysis with different techniques and for various purposes, and the obtaining and interpretation of the results. All this under the tutelage of researchers and technicians from the integrative inland water ecology group.<\/p>\n

The “Youth and Science” program<\/h3>\n

This initiative of the Catalonia La Pedrera Foundation is aimed at students with talent and interest in scientific research and has the objective of promoting scientific-technological vocations. For three years they have the opportunity to experience research firsthand.<\/p>\n

The first summer, the sixty selected students work on a scientific research project at M\u00f3nNatura Pirineus. The second can continue having experiences in scientific research in a renowned center. Third, students face the challenge of proposing a research project to work on, whether in a research center or in an international science program.<\/p>\n

For years at the CEAB-CSIC we have welcomed students from “Youth and Science”. Collaboration allows students to develop the skills necessary to engage in research and, above all, contributes to the promotion of scientific-technological vocations.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
