The Centre for Advanced Studies of Blanes (CEAB-CSIC) has launched its External Scientific Advisory Committee, a body designed to enhance the quality, rigour and impact of the research conducted at the Centre.<\/h4>\n

The Committee is composed of researchers who are experts in the various fields in which the Centre operates \u2014see here who the members are<\/a>\u2014, with distinguished careers and affiliations with prestigious research institutions from around the world.<\/strong> All of them are external to CEAB-CSIC. Their mission is to evaluate the scientific research carried out at the Centre and to advise its governing bodies in order to bolster excellence, providing an external and objective perspective<\/strong> on matters such as research lines, organisation, and future strategies<\/p>\n

External Scientific Advisory Committee<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

This body will analyse the scientific results achieved and issue recommendations to continue advancing in the production of relevant, high-quality knowledge and its transfer to society<\/strong>. It is set to become a key tool in guiding CEAB-CSIC towards cutting-edge research with both scientific and societal impact.<\/p>\n

Visit of the External Scientific Advisory Committee<\/h4>\n

On 12th, 13th and 14th May, the Committee members made their first official visit<\/strong> to the Centre for Advanced Studies of Blanes. Over the course of these days, they held meetings with the research teams, gained first-hand insight into ongoing projects, visited the facilities and surroundings, and carried out working sessions with CEAB-CSIC management and with the academic board about the Centre\u2019s scientific strategy. The visit also included a seminar where Committee members presented their own research, mentoring sessions for early-career researchers, and informal conversations with Centre staff, which allowed for the direct and enriching exchange of ideas and expertise.<\/p>\n

With their expert, global, and transdisciplinary perspective<\/strong>, the Committee members are expected to provide significant added value to CEAB-CSIC\u2019s scientific mission, helping to establish the Centre as a national and international benchmark in the fields of marine ecology, limnology, and theoretical ecology.<\/p>\n

These in-person working sessions with the External Scientific Advisory Committee were part of the MAX-CSIC program<\/a>, an initiative by the Spanish National Research Council to promote excellence in its research institutes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
