The LIFE RESQUE ALPYR project, coordinated by CEAB-CSIC, is launching a new call for citizens to contribute to the conservation of high mountain aquatic ecosystems in the Pyrenees and the Alps. This time,\u00a0encouraging local people and respectful visitors to these areas to join the LIFE RESQUE ALPYR citizen science project through the iNaturalist platform<\/a>.<\/h4>\n

Observation and collaboration are the two key steps to becoming an essential part of the project. Thanks to the observations of aquatic flora and fauna in high mountain lakes shared through the platform, the scientific team will be able to obtain complementary data that will help better understand these fragile and protected ecosystems and apply improved strategies for their conservation.<\/p>\n

How to participate?<\/h4>\n

It\u2019s very simple. You only need a mobile device and the willingness to contribute to science:<\/p>\n

  1. \n

    Download the iNaturalist app (available for iOS and Android)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Create an account and search for the project: LIFE RESQUE ALPYR<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  3. \n

    Observe aquatic flora and fauna in high mountain lakes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Take a photo and record your observation. For this research, we are especially interested in fish and amphibians<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    Add the species name if you know it (if not, the app community will help you)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    Include the location and, if you don\u2019t have coverage, you can save the data and upload it later<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Why is your participation important?<\/h4>\n

    For scientific teams, having more eyes in the field provides valuable information that complements their own data. Citizen science can help gather highly valuable information on key species and habitats, especially those located in Natura 2000 areas. This collective knowledge supports better decision-making for biodiversity conservation and helps connect science with society.<\/p>\n
