The Centre for Advanced Studies of Blanes (CEAB-CSIC) has published its 2024 Annual Report<\/a>, presenting data from a year marked by high scientific productivity, a robust portfolio of research projects and a strengthened commitment to placing newly generated knowledge at the service of society.<\/h4>\n

Throughout 2024, CEAB-CSIC researchers published more than 120 scientific articles<\/strong>*, consolidating the centre\u2019s position as a reference in biodiversity and aquatic ecology research, spanning both marine and inland water ecosystems. This output was developed in close collaboration with international institutions, involving centres from over 60 countries<\/strong> and strengthening global research networks.<\/p>\n

The centre\u2019s scientific activity was supported by more than 100 active research projects and grants, with a total committed funding of \u20ac16.7 million. Of this amount, \u20ac15.5 million came from external competitive calls<\/strong>, predominantly public (98%), reflecting CEAB-CSIC\u2019s strong capacity to attract funding at both national and international levels.<\/p>\n

In terms of human resources, CEAB-CSIC had a total of 147 staff members in 2024, including 72 researchers, 65 research technicians and 10 staff in general services and administration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201c2024 was also a year of external recognition and institutional visibility, with several awards and distinctions, as well as a strengthening of the Centre\u2019s internationalisation<\/strong>, supported by assistance in securing European projects and participation in international research networks.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Beyond research, 2024 marked a turning point in the centre\u2019s external communication and social outreach<\/strong>. CEAB-CSIC generated more than 500 media impacts at local, national and international levels, and expanded its digital presence through new social media channels. At the same time, science communication remained a central pillar, with 80 outreach activities reaching nearly 9,500 participants from both the educational sector and the general public.<\/p>\n

Overall, these results reflect a year of institutional consolidation, of strengthening research within the framework of the path towards scientific excellence, and of growing social impact<\/strong>, contributing to reinforce CEAB-CSIC\u2019s role as a leading research centre dedicated to the study of aquatic ecosystems, from the local to the global scale.<\/p>\n
