CEAB-CSIC will be one of the research centres taking part in the Conference on flood risk and renaturalisation opportunities in the Tordera delta<\/a>, to be held on 10 and 11 April in the town of Malgrat de Mar. The event will bring together researchers, public administrations and local stakeholders with the aim of sharing scientific knowledge and exploring solutions to the environmental and social challenges facing this coastal area.<\/h4>\n

Among the highlighted contributions will be a talk by researcher Rafael Sard\u00e1, who will address the integrated management of the Tordera delta and decision-making regarding future priorities. Scheduled for Saturday morning, the session will focus on the need to integrate scientific knowledge and governance in order to tackle the impacts of global change on delta ecosystems.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Centre\u2019s participation will also include a contribution from CEAB-CSIC Ram\u00f3n y Cajal researcher and socio-ecologist Jordi Pag\u00e8s, who will lead a participatory collective mapping activity. The session will invite attendees to identify critical areas of the delta, recover the memory of past flood events and jointly explore opportunities for ecological restoration<\/strong> across the territory.<\/p>\n

A programme focused on renaturalisation<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The conference will combine scientific and technical diagnostic sessions on flood risk and climate change with discussions on renaturalisation experiences, socio-environmental governance and multi-stakeholder debate. The programme also includes a guided field visit to the delta to gain first-hand insight into current challenges and restoration opportunities, as well as participatory sessions and shared conclusions. The event is conceived as an opportunity to connect the scientific community with the local territory and to contribute to defining evidence-based solutions to the increasing risks associated with climate change and global change driven by human pressures.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The conference is open to technical staff and researchers, students, representatives of public administrations, local organisations and members of the public interested in the environmental and social future of the Tordera delta. Participation is free of charge, but prior registration is required.<\/strong><\/p>\n
