Inspiraciencia, the short stories contest of CSIC<\/a>,<\/strong> which brings together science and literature, is back once again. The stories can be submitted from 9 April until 13 June\u00a0<\/strong>in Spanish, Catalan, Galician or Basque.<\/p>\n

his contest has the support of the\u00a0Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology<\/a> <\/strong>(FECYT) from the\u00a0Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0as well as many cultural and scientific institutions. Moreover, this edition will count with the special participation of the\u00a0CSIC Delegation in Aragon<\/strong>\u00a0in the organization of the awards ceremony.<\/p>\n

Inspiraciencia\u00a0started in 2011 with the desire to bring together science and literature to promote creativity as well as a different approach to scientific thinking. Participants can submit short stories of up 800 words in two categories: junior (from 12 to 17 years old) and senior (from 18 years old onwards). If you like sciene and literature, Inspiraciencia is the perfect place to express yourself.\u00a0 The originals must be sent through Inspiraciencia\u2019s website<\/a>\u00a0(registration is necessary).<\/p>\n

\"<\/h3>\n

New special award for schools<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This year the\u00a0special award \u201cDe ciencias y de letras\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0has been introduced. This category is directed to teachers that promote the participation of their students. In order to be elegible, at least one story has to be presented in the junior category of the contest. The award will consist of an experience related to the creation process of one of the performances of the Inspiraciencia awards ceremony.<\/p>\n

Awards ceremony<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The first award ceremonies were in Barcelona, where the contest originated. From the sixth edition onwards, the awards ceremony took place in different Spanish cities: Madrid, A Coru\u00f1a, Sevilla, San Sebastian. In the 10th anniversary of the contest, on 2020<\/a>, the ceremony took place in Barcelona, where the initiative started. This year, if the sanitary situation allows it, the ceremony will take place in\u00a0Zaragoza<\/strong>\u00a0in September 2021. Let’s cross fingers!<\/p>\n

The jury is formed by people from the scientific and literary fields: Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas L\u00e1zaro, CSIC institutional delegate in Aragon; Manuel Vicente from the Efervesciencia programme of Radio galega; Ana Bell\u00f3n, of the CSIC Galicia Communicaction department; Mar\u00eda Vicioso, of the Institut de Ci\u00e8ncies del Mar (CSIC) Communication and Outreach department; Naiara Berrojalbiz, CSIC researcher at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research; a representative from the Association of Writers in Galician Language; and a representative from the Biblioteques de Barcelona.<\/p>\n

Inspiraciencia\u00a0is a contest promoted by the CSIC Delegation in Catalunya<\/strong>, with the collaboration of the CSIC vice presidency of scientific culture. The contest can be organized thanks to the participation of many people from the different CSIC delegations and institutes in Andaluc\u00eda, Arag\u00f3n, Balearic Islands, Extremadura, Galicia, Euskadi, Canary Islands and the autonomous communities of Madrid and Valencia.<\/p>\n

The following cultural and scientific organizations also collaborate in this contest: Escola d\u2019Escriptura de l\u2019Ateneu Barcelon\u00e8s; Escuela de Escritores; the Association of Writers in Galician Language;\u00a0Editorial Galaxia; the Basque Cultural Institute -Cultural Centre Barcelona; Elhuyar Fundazioa; M\u00e8tode, journal for scientific outreach published by the University of Valencia; the Association of Catalan Language Writers; the Investigaci\u00f3n y Ciencia journal; Biblioteques de Barcelona and Eferveciencia (Radio galega).<\/p>\n
