The Centre for Advanced Studies of Blanes opened its doors to the public on 25 September to celebrate a new edition of CEAB Night. This year, the event focused on the role of science in the conservation and restoration of the natural environment.
The event was dedicated to the conservation and restoration of natural ecosystems. Under the theme “Knowledge in the Service of Nature”, it enabled participants to discover how scientific research contributes to addressing some of today’s major environmental challenges, such as protecting and restoring the natural environment in the context of climate change and global change.
The activity began at the Enric “Kike” Ballesteros Auditorium, at the Centre’s headquarters, with an introduction to the key concepts of the evening. Participants then moved to the terrace, where they were able to learn about a range of scientific research projects related to ecological conservation and restoration and engage directly with the research teams behind them.
CEAB Night 2026 provided concrete examples of how scientific knowledge contributes to the design of effective conservation and restoration strategies for different ecosystems.
A well-established European initiative
The evening formed part of the European Researchers’ Night. This major event is dedicated to science communication and public engagement with research. Its aim is to bring research, innovation and the people behind them closer to audiences of all ages in an accessible and engaging way. It is held every year in more than 300 cities across 30 European countries.
