The selection process for the position of CEAB Director is hereby announced, in accordance with current regulations.
A) Eligibility requirements:
Applicants must be PhD researchers of recognised standing, with the suitability and professional qualifications required to perform the duties inherent to the position. Candidates may be CSIC staff or external applicants who establish a formal link with the CSIC through an agreement or other recognised instrument.
B) Requirements for the application:
– Cover letter following the template (see below), explaining the motivation for applying for the position and highlighting the qualities considered relevant for the role.
– Full Curriculum Vitae.
– A detailed management and scientific project following the established outline (see template below) and of limited length (no strict word limit is set, but conciseness is recommended): analysis of the current situation, mission and vision of the institute (aligned, as a guideline, with the sections included in the current CSIC Strategic Plan). SWOT analysis and short- and medium-term outlook. Scientific programme, including challenges, expected outcomes, proposed strategy and actions. Management programme, taking into account the economic and administrative situation of the centre. In the case of reapplications, a report on the results achieved and the level of fulfilment of the objectives set out in the previous application must be included.
C) Process and timeline:
– 30 March 2026: receipt of the request from the Technical Coordination and Support Unit (UCAT) indicating the need to initiate the selection process for the CEAB Director.
– 9 April 2026: the Board initiates the selection process.
– From 13 April 2026: publication of the forthcoming vacancy on the CEAB and CSIC websites.
– Until 15 May 2026: deadline for submission of applications (one month from publication) to the Board Secretariat (gerencia(dot)ceab(at)csic(dot)es).
– 29 May 2026: Board meeting to review applications.
– 15 June 2026: deadline for amendments (10 working days after the Board meeting).
– From 16 June 2026: applications made available to the staff assembly.
– 7 September 2026: staff assembly for feedback and discussion (at least one week after the previous step), held in the Auditorium and open to all.
– 14 September 2026: incorporation of feedback (if necessary, one week after the assembly).
– 15 September 2026: publication of updated proposals.
– Until 22 September 2026 at 13:00: submission of endorsements. Endorsements must be submitted in a sealed envelope to the Secretary of the Assembly (dani(at)ceab(dot)csic(dot)es), individually, reasoned but anonymised, and following the established template (see below). Envelopes will be placed in a ballot box located in Dani Martin’s office for subsequent counting. It will be possible to endorse one or more proposals by including more than one ballot in the same envelope. For proxy endorsements, an email of consent must be provided.
– 22 September 2026: counting of endorsements by the Secretary of the Assembly in the presence of any members of the Assembly who wish to attend.
– 23 September 2026: submission to Management of the report on the endorsement count and a summary of the reasons provided.
– Board meeting on 23 September 2026 to formalise the final proposal.
– 24 September 2026: submission of the dossier to the CSIC UCAT for evaluation by the CSIC Scientific Advisory Committee.
– Before 24 November 2026: decision by the Presidency.
