Gerard Rocher Ros

I studied Environmental Sciences at the University of Barcelona and Statistical Modeling at the UAB in Spain. then I did a PhD in ecology at Umeå University in Sweden, on the biophysical controls of carbon emissions in Arctic rivers. My research focuses on the processing of organic matter in river networks, and how a large part of this carbon is emitted to the atmosphere as greenhouse gases. At CEAB I will develop a carbon reaction-transport model, which we will validate with field measurements from rivers in el Montseny, the Pyrenees and Sweden.

PROJECTS

Headwater basins provide water supply, greenhouse gas regulation, and other essential ecosystem services. However, human activities have altered its functioning. This research project investigates how factors of anthropogenic origin alter the dynamics of headwater basins, especially their role in climate regulation.
