Graduated in Environmental Biology (UAB) and a masters in Marine Biological Resources (IMBRSEA), my interests are on benthic ecology. Specifically, I focus on global and climate change impacts conditioning the function and resilience of marine forests such as seagrass meadows and macroalgal communities by modifying key processes like plant-herbivore interactions.

In the past, I worked at CEAB-CSIC for my bachelor’s thesis (UMBRAL project), at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (ECOHARVEST project) and at the Laboratoire Océanologique de Villefranche-SU (Shift2Solve project) for my master’s thesis. I also have a deep interest on citizien science and so I had the opportunity to join the Hidden Deserts project team.

PROJECTS

The research is closely linked to the effects of global change and how it can erode the resilience of habitat engineers such as macroalgae. It seeks to propose conservation priorities and contribute to preventing and avoiding the collapse of marine ecosystems.
The effective assembly and integration of socio-ecological systems around marine forest habitats will allow the identification of optimal balance scenarios between the long-term conservation of coastal benthic ecosystems and the viability of small-scale fisheries for both sea urchins and of their predatory fish.
