My research focuses on monitoring biodiversity in high mountain lakes using genetic techniques, particularly the analysis of environmental DNA (eDNA) present in water. In parallel, I also study the population genetics of amphibians and small mammals inhabiting these ecosystems, with the aim of understanding their genetic diversity and population structure.

Another area of my research is the monitoring of invasive and threatened fish species in Mediterranean rivers, also using environmental DNA, with the goal of improving early species detection and thereby supporting the implementation of effective conservation strategies.

PROJECTS

Despite their remote location, high mountain aquatic spaces are subject to anthropogenic threats that put their conservation status at risk, such as the introduction of exotic species, overcrowding by tourists or hydraulic infrastructures.
