Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral researcher

I am a marine ecologist specializing in invasion ecology, functional trait ecology, and computational ecology.

I graduated in Environmental Biology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and subsequently completed a master’s degree in Marine Ecology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). After completing my doctoral thesis at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), I returned to Catalonia to begin a postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Biodiversity Ecology (CEAB).

I am interested in studying biodiversity patterns at regional and global levels, from both a taxonomic and functional perspective, as well as understanding how biodiversity has changed and been affected by global change.

My doctoral thesis focused on the ecology of biological invasions, exploring how introduced species can establish themselves in new areas, what characteristics might give them advantages over native species, and how ecological theory can be applied to improve strategies for preventing future invasions.

I am currently working on research projects such as CAMBioMed.
