Monitoring of the macroinvertebrate biological indicator (MEDOCC index) under the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC)

MEDOCC

Within the framework of the Monitoring and Control Programme (PSiC) of the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), an agency of the Government of Catalonia.

The main objective of this project, coordinated by CEAB-CSIC, is the assessment of the environmental quality of Catalonia’s coastal waters (coastal waters and the bays of the Ebro Delta) using the soft-bottom macroinvertebrate indicator, in accordance with the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC).

The MEDOCC (Western MEDiterranean) index will be applied to assess the status of the water bodies.

The work is being carried out during the 2025-2030 period within the Monitoring and Control Programme (PSiC) of the Catalan Water Agency.
