BlauCat-Current Status and Action Plan for Blue Carbon in Catalonia

The BlauCat project aims to assess the current status of blue carbon in Catalonia’s coastal ecosystems and contribute to the development of an action plan for their conservation and restoration, as a tool to support public policies for climate change mitigation and adaptation. The project will generate a homogeneous and georeferenced database on blue carbon stocks and fluxes at the regional scale, as well as an analysis of the restoration potential of these ecosystems.

Digital twins for the prediction and management of water quality and coastal dynamics in the internal basins of Catalonia

The main objective of this research project is to co-develop digital twins for predicting water quantity and quality in the Ter and Tordera basins, including catchments, reservoirs and coastal areas, contributing to efficient water resource management, protecting ecosystems and maximising water security in a climate change context.

Impacts of climate, N and P deposition and land use on water as a driver of the greenhouse gases regulatory ecosystem service in headwater catchments (SERVICO2)

Headwater basins provide water supply, greenhouse gas regulation, and other essential ecosystem services. However, human activities have altered its functioning. This research project investigates how factors of anthropogenic origin alter the dynamics of headwater basins, especially their role in climate regulation.

Evaluation of the biochemical footprint of the configuration of river networks on the processing of carbon and nutrients in rivers (Fluprint)

How do water inputs from both tributaries and groundwater change the processes happening in the river? The research project investigates this question and aims to find the key contribution areas to define the processes of rivers in different biomes. It includes field work and controlled experimentation in the CEAB-CSIC infrastructure.
