The study proposes an analysis of the Spanish Legal System in order to propose a strategy of adaptation of the regulatory framework for the implementation of a blue carbon market for compensation projects for ecosystems that operate as natural CO2 sinks on the coasts Spanish.
To this end, the characteristics and functioning of carbon markets will be analyzed, as well as the main instruments of international, European and state laws that regulate emissions trading.
In addition, the main regulatory obstacles to the implementation of a blue coal market will be identified.
Next, the main carbon offsetting and emissions trading mechanisms that are currently operating to be used as a reference for blue carbon markets will be systematized.
Finally, proposals will be prepared for the adaptation of the regulatory framework that encourages the implementation of blue carbon offset projects in the Spanish coasts.
