Fernando is a Master’s candidate in Science, Conservation & Valorization of Marine Resources (MARRES) at the Université Côte d’Azur, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a concentration in Sustainable & Global Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

He is the Blue Carbon Project Officer at BlueSeeds, a French company based in Bordeaux that develops financing mechanisms for marine conservation. He will be staying at CEAB to study the carbon lost from Posidonia oceanica meadows because of anchoring degradation. The goal of his project is to develop a blue carbon financing mechanism to install eco-moorings to avoid anchor degradation and conserve Posidonia meadows.

He is interested in interdisciplinary and nature-based solutions to climate change, blue carbon, marine conservation, environmental justice, social ecology and science-based policy.
